NBA trade rumors 2016: Memphis Grizzlies plan to add Kevin Durant in the offseason

Kevin Durant is widely expected to be busy this summer with practically all teams with available cap space expected to pitch for the former National Basketball Association (NBA) Most Valuable Player (MVP).

The latest word is that the Memphis Grizzlies will be crashing the party as well, which is not much of a surprise, although the team needs to ensure that it is intact as well.

One player that they need to pay attention to is Mike Conley who was recently linked to a possible transfer to the New York Knicks.

Like Durant, Conley is another player who is likely to be pursued by other teams, although the Grizzlies are expected to exhaust all means to retain the star guard.

If the Grizzlies are successful, they may have a "big three" of their own. Aside from Conley there is Marc Gasol in the lineup which could make Memphis an immediate contender.

However, the reality of it all is that Memphis will be up against heavyweight teams that have a winning tradition. Such include the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, and Golden State Warriors that have made their intentions known this early.

Of course, there is the Oklahoma City Thunder who will likely be Durant's priority before considering suitors.

Regardless, there may be casualties in the process. For the Grizzlies, that man could be Zach Randolph who hasn't exactly been making noise in Memphis lately.

At this point of the season, Durant is unlikely to hint at what lies ahead for his career. He stressed that before the season started and advised critics and fans not to be swayed by alleged plans which do not come directly from him or a select number of friends he trusts.

Even though he hasn't mentioned it, Durant will likely be looking to join a team that has the potential to give him what any NBA player dreams of — the right pay and, of course, an NBA title.
