NBA trade rumors 2016: LeBron James shoots down talks about Kevin Love being traded to Boston Celtics

Until the Feb. 18 National Basketball Association (NBA) trade deadline, expect Kevin Love's name to linger in the air.

The All-Star forward's name has been the subject of trade rumors and is actually in the center of a rumored blockbuster trade that could involve New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony.

It is no secret that LeBron James and Anthony have long wanted to play side-by-side and until now, that was seen nearly improbable. However, seeing how Love is yet again being criticized for his subpar showing despite a good start in Cleveland, the only way that this trade rumor would be dispelled is the trade deadline lapsing.

For those who haven't heard, the alleged blockbuster trade would see Love landing with the Boston Celtics if the transaction materializes. The Cavs would get Anthony, while the New York Knicks would end up with a couple of first round picks.

According to Cavaliers beat reporter Chris Haynes, James was thrown the question concerning the Love trade at Toronto over the weekend and James replied by saying that it's not true.

However, as NESN points out, James is unlikely to get into detail or even confirm the rumor which would place Love in a pretty precarious situation.

The Cavs have denied the rumors prior to that, but the belief is that there is still something brewing which the organization is holding back.

Even though they are already a talent-laden team, the fact remains that both Anthony and James have long wanted to play with each other.

Looking at it from a different perspective, it will be interesting to see if two players who want the ball in their hands can co-exist. Better yet, it will be interesting to know if Anthony can maintain his star-caliber status by joining the Cavs.

Anthony needs to simply look at the struggles of Love. After being the main man with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the All-Star forward is struggling to fit in with the team.

Could Anthony end up being the same?
