NBA rumors 2015: Memphis Grizzlies recall James Ennis From D-League [VIDEO]

James Ennis seemed to have mustered enough to get another tour of National Basketball Association (NBA) duty, with the Memphis Grizzlies reportedly recalling the 6-foot-7-inch player from the Iowa Energy.

Ennis was part of that trade that saw him land in Memphis along with Mario Chalmers back in November, in exchange for Beno Udrih and Jarnell Stokes.

Ennis, apparently, failed to impress the Grizzlies coaching staff when he debuted last Nov. 30. But it seems that with the numbers he has been putting up with the Energy, the team is hopeful he can carry that fire and improvement for the embattled Memphis quintet.

Ennis could be a pawn for coach Dave Joerger, who seems to be adamant in employing a "small ball" approach for the team, as reported via the Bleacher Report.

Regular starter Zach Randolph was relegated to the bench with the new approach, seeing Matt Barnes taking up his starting slot. After a poor start, Joerger is hoping the new approach can help put the Grizzlies back into respectable stature, being one of the favored teams before the 2015–16 NBA season started.

To his credit, Ennis has been averaging 23.3 points, five rebounds, and 1.7 assists before he was called up to join the Grizzlies. He has been getting heavy minutes with the Energy, highlighted by a 32-point performance debut which he had back in Dec. 5.

With Joerger and the Grizzlies seeing progress in the "small ball" approach, Ennis could be another option off the bench.

As far as his minutes are concerned, it is unlikely he will be logging on the same number of minutes he did in the D-League (36.8 minutes), although it depends on how performs for the team.

Ennis may not be a big name to add but seeing how the Grizzlies need help, giving him the opportunity to show the things he did in the developmental league wouldn't hurt.
