'NBA 2K16' updates: James Harden's basketball journey retold

 NBA 2K's Facebook page

A new promo for "NBA 2K16" shows cover star James Harden's journey in becoming one of NBA's finest. Just like Stephen Curry's My Story clip, Spike Lee also narrates the Houston Rockets superstar's life inside and outside the basketball court.

Titled "Believe," the clip follows Harden as a dreamer from Compton who went out to Arizona State where he showed his impeccable basketball skills. He then officially became part of the NBA as a player for Oklahoma City Thunder. This was also the time the signature beard came to being.

He then played great games and leagues and here he is now, an awe-inspiring star player for Houston Rockets who is one step closer to becoming the Most Valuable Player this year. His incredible story and his beardless past will be part of Spike Lee's My Story for "NBA 2K16."

There are rumors that apart from the Houston Rockets jersey Harden wears now, players will also see him donning his ASU uniform in the highly anticipated iteration of the long-running basketball simulation video game. After all, there was an image of Harden playing for the said university on the game's cover and there's also previous word that 10 colleges, including ASU and Arizona, will be featured in the game. 2K Sports allegedly obtained licenses to include these schools.

It remains to be seen what gamers will actually get out of the My Story portions of the basketball stars in "NBA 2K16," but CBS Sports says it is very timely to see Harden's promo video (where his Compton roots were shown) in the same week "Straight Outta Compton" hits theaters.

Just recently, the "NBA 2K16" My Story video for Curry titled "Beyond the Shadows" was shown. It will only be a matter of time before that of Anthony Davis is also released.

"NBA 2K16" will come out Sept. 29.
