Is Elliot's (Rami Malek) new antagonist a close friend in the hit USA Network series "Mr. Robot" season 2?

When the freshman installment of drama-thriller series ended, viewers witnessed that Angela (Portia Doubleday) has come a long way from being a simple employee. When she was offered a lucrative position at Evil Corp, she readily accepted the opportunity. Soon after, she was working her magic at the public relations department. Angela remained cool even after witnessing one of the company's big bosses commit suicide.

That day marked the total change in the character's persona. In a snap, she changed from a warm friend to a cold stranger. When her company asked her to attend a press conference that fateful day, she agreed. She even took the time to buy new shoes to replace the ones tainted by her boss' blood. In season 3, fans are quite worried about how Evil Corp will mold her to become one of its unfeeling executives. Angela may even find herself facing off with Elliot, a sad fate considering the many things they have weathered together through the years.

In his interview with The Hollywood Reporter back in September, series creator and showrunner Sam Esmail discussed about Doubleday's character, stating that the contrast of her frame of mind from Elliot's makes an interesting storyline. The executive producer said that Angela was the epitome of the American dream. Her path to success was pretty much straight forward, that if she worked hard enough, she would progressively ascend to higher positions. Elliot, Esmail shared, wanted change to come from "outside the system," which was a direct contrast to Angela's belief.

"We never try and spell out what's right and wrong and who the clear good guys are versus the bad guys, and I just think that both the approaches of Elliot and Angela, you can look at from both good and bad sides, and that, to me, is interesting. When those two parallels collide, I think that's just going to make for great drama and great story," he said.

"Mr. Robot" season 2 is set to premiere sometime in 2016.
