The list of Motorola devices getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update has been appended recently, with reports that the unlocked version of the Motorola Moto G (3rd gen) device is now getting the latest Android operating system (OS) push.

For those who are unaware, the Moto G (3rd gen) came out in July this year, and it was released initially with Android Lollipop 5.1 out of the box.

But with Motorola including the said handsets in the list of devices set to get the Android 6.0 M update, the unlocked variants of the Moto G (3rd gen) will now be able to enjoy the features of the said OS. The release places a check on the list of Motorola devices scheduled to get the update.

Earlier on, other Motorola devices such as the Moto X Style, Moto X Pure Edition (2015), and Moto X Pure Edition (2014) received their share of Android 6.0 M love.

To reiterate, the features that Android 6.0 M will carry include better battery life management courtesy of the Doze app; better permission management for third party apps; Google Now on Tap; Android Pay; and the usual patches and security updates that Android usually includes.

The Android 6.0 M patch is currently being rolled out for U.S. and Canada users who have the unlocked version of the Moto G (3rd gen), something that was first reported by Android Beat.

Now, while the Android 6.0 M would bring a lot of enhancements, it will also do away with some features in the process.

According to Android Authority, familiar features such as the Moto Assist, Motorola Migrate, and the Google Chrome extension for Motorola Connect will be taken out.

For those who are familiar with the said features, Motorola advises that there is no need to pre-install such since Google does offer similar functions.
