Moto 360 2 release date: New smartwatch to launch this September?

Motorola had two chances this year to announce the second Moto 360 smartwatch – first at Google's I/O 2015 back in May, where the tech giant also reiterated the Android Wear 2.0; and more recently, at Motorola's unveiling of its new smartphone flagships. Fans are still waiting , as the second-generation Moto 360  remains as elusive as ever.

However, recent speculations suggest that Motorola may be peeling the lid off the Moto 360 2 soon. According to the rumors, since Motorola decided to focus its most recent event on smartphone releases, the company would need another of its flagships to be present at the upcoming IFA event in Berlin come September. IFA is one of the most prestigious annual conventions in the tech industry, and many heavyweights in the field will have a huge presence at the event.

Aside from Motorola supposedly debuting their new Android Wear smartwatch at the IFA next month, other tech big-names are also reported to be marking the said event. Among the most rumored companies set to make their appearances are Samsung with their new Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus, and the maker of Apple Watch unveiling a new iPhone and an updated iOS.

Fans of the original Moto 360 are expecting a much-updated version of the Moto smartwatch. When the first Moto 360 was launched, it gained a reputation as an innovator, one of the very first smartwatches to be released. However, due to the limited tech available at that time, other fans who compared the Moto 360 to other, newer smartwatch releases found the design and specs lacking.

That just might change with the release of the Moto 360 (2nd Gen). According to rumors, the new Android Wear smartwatch will do away with the "flat-tire" design of its watch face, along with upgraded specs and design, also adding features such as more personalization and customization options.
