NetherRealm Studios has so far come out with a lot of cool characters for the DLC packs released for Mortal Kombat X since it was released in April last year so fans of the franchise are excited to see what the developer has in store for its next expansion pack.

It can be recalled that for the first expansion pack, Jason Voorhees of Friday the 13th; Predator ; Tremor of Mortal Kombat: Special Forces as well as Tanya of Mortal Kombat 4.

The second expansion pack was no laggard in the coolness department as it included characters like Bo' Rai Cho of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance; Leatherface of Texas Chainsaw Massacre; Xenomorph of Alien and Tri-Borg, an original cyborg character.

The third installment which was originally expected to be released during the recently concluded Evolution Championship Series (EVO) event, did not materialize but no less than MK creator Ed Boon assured that something big is in the works, reported iTechPost.

In a tweet response to a fan who asked why there was no release or announcement made at the major gaming event, Boon simply replied: "Never planned it for EVO. But there is big MKXL news coming."

His reply automatically got the rumor mill going again as excited fans speculated what the expansion pack would contain and when it will finally reach them.

According to a separate report by iTechPost, the new expansion pack will feature upgrades of two characters and these characters were determined by fans themselves when Boone asked them which among the roster needed more attention.

The informal poll resulted in Tremor, who was part of the first DLC and Subzero from the original game.

If fans are to be considered, some of the top characters on their wishlist include Sindel, Fujin, Baraka, Noob Saibot and Rain, Movie News Guide reported.

However, based on a tweet from Boon which showed a very detailed character images of Drahmin and Havik, they could well be included in the expansion pack.
