One of the game installments that launched this year which were much anticipated was "Mortal Kombat X." The latest iteration of the long-running fighting title rolled out last April, and to keep the hype up for the title, Ed Boon and his team at NetherRealm Studios have constantly updated and expanded the game with new content.

Although it has already been confirmed that the latest "Mortal Kombat" title will indeed gain a few more characters next year, NetherRealm Studios has not given any details about who these characters will be. It has also not evealed whether they will come as part of a massive update or through various DLC, much like what it did with the first Kombat Pack the title received after it launched.

The latest speculations from the rumor mill suggest that the developer will come out with the same mix of classic and outside-the-franchise characters for another Kombat Pack DLC. In a report by Design and Trend, two of the most popular fighters whom fans are said to want to see in the roster are Baraka and Rain. Aside from being fan favorites, both Baraka and Rain already appear in "Mortal Kombat X" but both are non-playable characters.

Meanwhile, Latin Post surmised that another character that would look good among "Mortal Kombat X" kombatants is Spawn. According to the report, Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn, has already agreed to the inclusion of the character in the game, giving free rein to publisher warner Bros. Interactive. However, the appearance is on one condition: for Spawn to be seen on "MKX" only as a guest character for a limited time.

After "Mortal Kombat X" launched earlier this year, NetherRealm Studios added more content through expansion packs. The Kombat Pack DLC added at least four new characters to the already-impressive "Mortal Kombat X" roster, namely Jason Vorhees from "Friday the 13th," Predator from the film franchise, and "Mortal Kombat" veterans Tanya and Tremor.
