'Mortal Kombat X' DLC release date news: 'Kombat Pack 3' to land sooner than thought?

A lot of fans of "Mortal Kombat X" are already at their wits' end since the release of its supposedly upcoming DLC has yet to be seen. However, it's fortunate that game director Ed Boon has some good news for players, teasing some new developments for this game title.

According to Vine Report, one of the reasons behind the delay of the "Mortal Kombat X" DLC is that Boon is also preoccupied with the DC Comics-themed fighting game "Injustice 2," another of NetherRealm Studio's bigger games. However, it seems that the game studio was able to spare some time for "Mortal Kombat X."

Boon even went so far as to post in his Twitter account something that could give clue as to when this new DLC will come out. In his post, he said that, "evEn with the recent announcement of injustice 2 .... we'Ve got some cool mortal kombat x news cOming! :)"

Dissecting the post, it seems that Boon has intentionally capitalized three letters: E, V, and O. This certainly suggests that the most-awaited DLC update for "Mortal Kombat X" might be released on the upcoming Evolution Championship Series, otherwise called Evo. Also, the fact that the DLC wasn't revealed in the E3 2016 event makes this release date plausible.

This new DLC, called the "Kombat Pack 3," is hyped up because its previous DLC didn't live up to the fans' expectation of seeing new characters, according to Ecumenical News. This DLC pack will reportedly feature popular characters like Smoke, Fujin, Jade, Sindel, Noob Saibot, Rain, and Li Mei.

However, according to the same article, a lot of PC gamers are also hoping that this reveal will have something to do with the PC version of "Mortal Kombat X." After all, earlier this year NetherRealm ceased their DLC support to PCs, which infuriated some of the aggrieved fans.

The EVO event will be held in the Las Vegas Convention Center from July 15 to 17.
