Phil (Ty Burell) will muddle things up for Haley (Sarah Hyland) and Andy (Adam DeVine) in the upcoming season of ABC series "Modern Family."

According to the synopsis released by the network, Phil will make matters worse for his daughter after egging her to tell Andy what she really feels. HNGN reports that when Haley admits her predicament to her father, Phil tells her to follow her heart regardless of the consequences. Haley takes that as a go signal to bulldoze her way into Andy's heart by attempting to stop his marriage proposal to his current girlfriend, Beth (Laura Ashley Samuels).

After her hearing her confession, Andy is reportedly confused and it is taking its toll on his relationship with Beth. It does not help that Phil is telling everyone that he and Haley love each other. In a trailer, Phil can be seen telling his wife that he knows that Andy has feelings for his daughter just by the twinkle in his eyes.

Meanwhile, the International Business Times reports that Phil actually is justified in his "guess," as Andy has apparently told him he is in love with Haley. Season 7 will see the two in a serious relationship, but the rosy atmosphere will not last between them. Beth, who Haley believed is crazy, will prove how psychotic she can be by hounding the new lovebirds.

Andy's scorned former girlfriend will reportedly make Haley's life miserable, even resorting to violence to show how angry she is at being dumped. She will be breaking into her room and destroying things. At one point, she will even stage an accident to hurt her physically. It certainly appears that Haley will face some tough times in the upcoming installment. Perhaps, with Andy by her side, she will be able to weather them all.

"Modern Family" season 7 will return on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 9 p.m. on ABC.
