'Mirror's Edge Catalyst Special Edition' release date for PS4, Xbox One and PC version

Game developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts have announced that the upcoming role-playing platformer "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" would be getting a Special Edition bundle.

Announcing the limited edition pack on the official website, the company says that the Special Edition of "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" "was made to help foster the player's affinity with our heroine, Faith, as she grows up and makes a stand against oppression, represented by a beautiful adult and young Faith real life diorama."

The statue that comes with the pack stands about 14 inches tall, and depicts both young and adult versions of Faith, the main protagonist in the "Mirror's Edge" series. Aside from the figure, players will also get an exclusive Steel book and lithograph; a set of 10 concept pieces about the upcoming title; temporary logo and Faith arm tattoo; and a storage box.

The "Mirror's Edge Catalyst Special Edition" bundle will be shipped worldwide in limited quantities to selected retailers. Meanwhile, collectors who want to get their hands on the real-world items included in the package can already make pre-orders at GameStop stores. The bundle is available for $200.

Fans and observers first caught a glimpse of the upcoming title at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. Earlier reports about the game speculated that it will be a direct sequel to the first "Mirror's Edge" story. However, DICE was quick to point out that rather than continuing where the first game left off, "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" is a whole new outlook and story featuring the main protagonist, Faith, as she grows up and comes to terms with her environment. DICE also added that although the upcoming title will deal with Faith's origins, "Catalyst" will have its own stand-alone plot and will not serve as a prequel to the first "Mirror's Edge" title.

"Mirror's Edge Catalyst" is scheduled to be released in February next year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
