Microsoft Surface Pro 4 rumors: Laplet to be released in October with powerful processor?

Rumor has it that the alleged Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will be released this October. With the recent release of its maker's newest operating system, Windows 10, it is expected that the tablet-laptop hybrid will have the fresh OS on board.

The device is touted to be the most powerful in its lineup, all because under its hood will be a Skylake processor, the newest breed of Intel's chipsets expected to be released this fall. Being the latest and more advanced processor, it is expected to offer more power efficiency.

Another feature to look forward to in the new Surface Pro entry is Windows Hello. According to The Verge, Windows Hello is the new biometric authentication system integrated in Windows 10. It works with either a fingerprint scanner or an Intel RealSense 3D Camera. The latter will literally allow users to log in with their face. This means that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 might ship with a 3D camera when it is released. There are already devices with the said type of camera built in them and the aforementioned site says more will come.

As for the rest of the specs, the device hybrid is reportedly getting a 12-inch display with 2K pixel resolution. Crossmap, on the other hand, is reporting that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will also have a 14-inch variant. The internal memory (RAM) is said to go up to a whopping 16 GB.

Although the machine is still unannounced, there are already speculations that the laplet will cost less than its predecessor. The Surface Pro 3's 64 GB/ Intel Core i3 base model costs $799 while the model with the highest storage and processor is priced at $1,949. If the rumor is accurate, users won't need to shell out more than $1,000 to get a Surface Pro 4.

There are also rumors that Microsoft is preparing to ship more than 4 million Surface Pro 4 units this year alone, although this, like the other details, is unfounded.
