Mario Chalmers is a player on the Miami Heat roster that is likely to be out before the next NBA season comes around and the 34th overall draft pick of the 2008 NBA Draft is not at all worried.
Not that Chalmers does want to bolt the Heat but rather accepting the fact that this is how an NBA player's life rolls.
Chalmers was hardly a factor last season, something that seems to be another reason why the Heat have placed him on the trading block.
But other than that, it is his $4.3 million salary next season that is of more concern, something that will become a problem for the Miami Heat as far as luxury tax penalties are concerned.
There is still that possibility that Chalmers could still be with the Heat by the beginning of the season but all that is seen as simply to delay his imminent departure. The Heat have practically filled their backcourt with the re-signing of Goran Dragic and the return of Dwyane Wade.
That practically crosses out Chalmers as far as playing time is concerned, although he may be given some minutes as a reliever.
And Chalmers knows for a fact that he needs to be professional about the whole thing. He doesn't seem to be holding any grudges against the Heat and simply plans to work on his game and do the thing he loves most – playing basketball.
The 29-year-old playmaker will have to do that to stay in shape and of course capture the eye of other ballclubs. He is not expected to give up and may likely be waiting for a call on where he would be headed to.
"I try to control what I can control, and I'm just working on me and my game. I would definitely love to stay in Miami. I think we have a good chance this year to go all the way. It's just bringing everything together," Chalmers was quoted of saying in an interview with KUSports.com
Unless Chalmers and the Heat can come up with something to restructure the guard's salary and help the team avoid that dreaded luxury tax bill, Chalmers is likely good as gone.
At the moment, there is no team linked yet to the former University of Kansas guard who has spent his entire career playing for the Miami Heat.
