Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 eyed by Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton

Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton is eyeing the handsome Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 to be the latest addition to his car collection. The racing champ recently posted on his Facebook page a photo of himself aboard the offroader and revealed that he is planning to get one.

Auto Evolution doesn't think this is a mere publicity stunt. The site believes that Hamilton is genuinely interested in taking one home. Unfortunately, production for the Mercedes-Benz SUV has come to an end back in April.

The German carmaker opted to manufacture only a limited number of the vehicle and each and every one of those has been purchased. But it wouldn't be much of a shock for Mercedes-Benz to make one especially for Hamilton as he is one of the company's main advocates.

The vehicle is the largest street-legal SUV from Mercedes-Benz. The 6-wheel-drive's power coming from a 5.5 liter twin-turbo V8 AMG engine with 536 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque. Its engine is coupled with a 7G-tronic seven-speed automatic transmission.

The G63 AMG 6x6 is 2,110 mm in width and 5,875 mm in length, making it 1,104.9 mm longer than the standard car. It stands 2,210 mm with ground clearance of 460 mm, and its wheels are at 939.8 mm. It weighs a whopping 4,105 kg, and can reach 100 km per hour.

According to GT Spirit, the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 is one of the company's most expensive models when it first came out. It is second to the Mercedes-Benz SLS Electric Drive, which has a starting price of 379,000 euros. The car reportedly costs 370,000 euros as per Auto Car.

Hamilton is often seen in his Pagani Zonda 760 LH. It remains to be seen if the latest entry on his car wish list will soon be his.
