Matt Barber explains why Christians should not be 'pro-choice'

As far as Christian blogger Matt Barber is concerned, true Christians can never be "pro-choice," since being "pro-choice" is a myth that is "as dead as the death it represents."

"Pre-born babies are objectively and empirically distinct persons with emotions, autonomy (though in a dependent stage of human development, not unlike post-birth babies) and the unalienable human rights intrinsic to all human beings," he writes in an article for The Christian Post.

Barber says pre-born babies already feel immense physical pain and terror when their arms, legs and heads are "ripped off by pro-choice extremists," so there is no way Christians can justify that abortion is acceptable. For him, being "pro-choice" equates to being "pro-death."

"Every human being, born or yet born, is a precious individual of incalculable import, created in the image and likeness of a holy God, no less valuable and worthy of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness than you or I," he stresses.

Even while inside their mothers' wombs, these babies are already precious persons worthy of dignity and respect, Barber says. And since the word "homicide" is described by Merriam Webster as "a killing of one human being by another," Barber says people who condone abortions are committing homicide "for no other reason than to accommodate your selfish wants or ill-informed fears."

For those people who have undergone abortion and feel guilty for their past mistakes, Barber tells them not to worry because God will always forgive. God is the only one who can absolve people of their guilt if they turn to God and seek forgiveness.

"If you have committed this horrible sin — this crime against God and your dead child — then know this: There is forgiveness available in and through the person of Christ Jesus alone," he says. "You need only ask and you will be forgiven."
