Manny Pacquiao next fight update: No deal for Amir Khan yet

Manny Pacquiao's choice for his next opponent is down to two — Amir Khan and Terence Crawford. But the thing is the Filipino boxer has not yet made a decision, although he has no preference between the two.

With that said, there is still no contract drawn up and there is nothing to sign. So what was the claim of Amir Khan via the Daily Mail that he has already come to terms and signed an agreement to fight Manny Pacquiao on Apr. 9, 2016 all about?

As before, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum once again stepped in and set things straight. First of all is that Arum has not yet sent any contract to Khan and that the claims made by Khan and his camp are totally untrue.

Khan's father, Shah, claims, as reported by the Daily Mail, "Our paperwork went off to Arum on Friday and every point is covered."

Arum was simply dumbfounded by the claims, saying that no contract has been drawn up for either fighter. With word of Khan's claiming spreading, Terence Crawford's manager Cameron Dunkin reportedly called up Arum to confirm if the report was true. Arum immediately denied it and told Dunkin to tell Crawford that it was not true.

Pacquiao's final opponent will likely be known either this month or December but Arum stresses that the final word will fall on the Filipino boxer/lawmaker's hands.

Arum will be headed to the Philippines soon as he sits down with Pacquiao and Michael Koncz to go over the details of the deals for each opponent. Hence, it still remains to be seen if it will be Khan or Crawford, although this false report could have repercussions as far as Khan is concerned.

Recall that Khan's habit of mouthing off has cost him before a chance to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Even though Pacquiao and his camp are entirely different, Khan could end up being shunned again if he does not clam up and let fight negotiations take its normal toll.
