It seems like Manny Pacquiao is the only one who believes he will retire following April's rubber match with Timothy Bradley Jr., since even his head trainer Freddie Roach see him continuing his fighting career.
Pacquiao announced recently that after fighting Bradley for the third time, he will hang the gloves and leave the sport for good to focus on his political career.
Top Rank's Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter, already said numerous times that he is not promoting the upcoming bout as the last for the Filipino boxing icon.
Now, Roach joins Arum and also thinks the curtain call for Pacquiao's career is not happening with the Bradley fight.
However, the renowned boxing coach said it all depends on Pacquiao's senatorial bid in the Philippine national elections this May, The Ring reported.
Roach stated that being a congressman and a boxer is okay, but being active in the sport while you are a senator might be too much.
"I do know Manny well, though. He would love to be the senator who defended his title someday. I don't think this is his last fight for some reason. I just don't see it because he has a lot left in him," Roach added.
The 55-year-old trainer also mentioned that he will be "disappointed" if Pacquiao's bout with Bradley is the last in a storied career, but pledged support to the former eight-division champion.
Along with the majority of the boxing world, Roach wants to see the 37-year-old boxing star take on rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. again and believes the Filipino will do much better this time around.
That is unlikely happening anytime soon, with Mayweather saying in a recent report by BBC Sport that for now that he is not thinking of returning to competition and quashed rumors about a rematch.
