Mandela to lead '46664 Arctic' Concert Against HIV/AIDS

Nelson Mandela, the former president of South Africa will take part in the HIV/AIDS charity concert called '46664 Arctic' in the Norwegian town of Tromsoe on June 11, to point out the worldwide influence of the killer epidemic.

The concert's name is derived from Mandela's prison number during the Apartheid and it is the third concert of its type that Mandela will lead. The first concert took place in November 2003 in Cape Town and was followed by the second in Fancourt, the South of Cape Town.

During the concert Mandela will speak to the concert attendants and the speech will be "specifically aimed at the leaders of the G8 summit which will be held under the leadership of Britain's prime minister three weeks later in Scotland telling them that far more needs to be done to fight HIV/Aids in sub-Saharan Africa," said the Mandela foundation.

As the concerts will take place in the Norwegian town of Tromsoe on June 11, the concert aims to point out the huge problems of HIV/AIDS in northern parts of the world, especially in the former Soviet Republic.

The series of charity concerts 46664 during its existence has gained a lot of support from many music and film celebrities such as U2 lead singer Bono, actor Brad Pitt and also former U.S. President Bill Clinton.
