Fans of the police procedural series "Major Crimes" will likely say goodbye to a main character in the second half of its fourth season.
According to TV Guide, the head of the Major Crimes Division, Sharon Raydor (Mary McDonnell), is reportedly thinking of changing jobs and retiring from the force. This will come as a surprise to the loyal fans of the TNT series, as she has become a fixture and an important person in the show. Without Raydor, the unit looks incomplete, as it is her leadership that has steered the members to the right course of action when dealing with a case.
The spoiler reveals that she would have a tough time deciding regarding a change of career. Does this mean Raydor will be offered a new job, perhaps a promotion from her current position? It is also possible that she will leave the force altogether, and consider an entirely different profession. If she does resign, who will take her place as the head of the division? That will be an interesting storyline to watch out for.
Meanwhile, executive producer James Duff revealed an important spoiler regarding resident forensic specialist Michael Tao (Michael Paul Chan). According to Duff, an old case would be reopened when the investigation reveals it has a connection to a newer crime. It concerned the death of two men of law. Tao was working on that particular case with then Detective Mark Hickman (guest star Jason Gedrick) of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Hickman appeared to have taken the fall for bungling the case and he wanted Tao to go down with him. Duff said that the storyline would encompass the last five episodes of the installment.
"It's all one giant, sprawling investigation. The mystery is knotty and difficult to unravel. Murder is pretty black and white, but there's a lot of gray around it... He perjured himself on the stand and Tao refused to back him up. Hickman believes all the murders that happened after are attributable to Mike Tao wanting to protect his pension," the executive producer shared.
"Major Crimes" season 4 will return on Monday, Feb. 15, at 9 p.m. EST on TNT.
