AMC has finally announced the official release date of the second part of "Mad Men's" final season, and it gives fans ample time to say goodbye to their favorite period drama.

Series creator Matt Weiner confirmed that the first of the last seven episodes of "Mad Men" season 7 will be aired on Sunday, April 5. The series finale, on the other hand, will be broadcast on May 17.

Weiner was joined by the original cast members of the show during Saturday's press conference at the Television Critics Association's winter tour, including Jon Hamm, January Jones, Elizabeth Moss, Christina Hendricks, Vincent Kartheiser, and John Slattery.

According to Moss, the main theme of the last seven episodes of the series is "People do change, but in a lot of ways, they don't, unfortunately."

Weiner, on the other hand, mentioned that in the final seven episodes, "Mad Men" will shift its focus back on all the six main characters, just like what they did during the first season. This will make each episode feel like it is the last so that no stones are left unturned.

Also, the series creator said that he made sure that the final episode of the series will not ignite fan outrage, just like what happened with the concluding episode of "How I Met Your Mother."

"I'm trying to delight them and confound them, and not frustrate and irritate them. I don't want them to walk away angry," the series creator said, talking about the viewers of the show. Yet, Weiner also said, " I don't want to pander to them. ... Sometimes, people have to be protected from what they want to see happen. You can't just give them everything they want."

When asked if the show will have a spin-off just like "Breaking Bad" from which the new "Better Call Saul" series started from, Weiner abruptly answered that it may never happen, and they have "tried to limit its exploitation to things that are related to the show."

But the show's creator also said that he and the cast will forever be in debt to the fans who patronized them . He said, "We sincerely thank the fans for joining us on this ride and hope it has meant as much to them as it has to us."
