MacBook Air Retina 2014 release date in October as Best Buy discounts previous models

MacBook Air Retina 2014 release date is speculated to happen in October or much sooner as Best Buy offers the previous models of the device at a discounted price.

US retailer Best Buy is treating its consumers by reducing the price of the current models of MacBook Air laptops. Although the retailer previously offered discounts to consumers, Best Buy now gives buyers at least $100 discount.

MacBook Air was refreshed earlier this year although the upgrade is not that extravagant. Thus, the laptop is expected to receive further improvements later this year. Apple slipped the updated 13-inch MacBook Air last month. The revamped models feature a slight bump on its processor from 1.3GHz to 1.4GHz. Moreover, the model boasts a battery capacity of up to 12 hours.

Now could be the perfect timing to buy a new laptop as the 11.6-inch MacBook Air with Intel i5, 4GB RAM and 128GB flash storage costs $799.99, which saves the consumer $45. Meanwhile, the 13.3-inch version costs $849.99.

The plummeting of prices signals the imminent release of a device, but recent reports claimed that the 2014 version of MacBook Air release date will be postponed due to the delayed release of Intel's new Broadwell chips.

According to Taiwanese media source Economic Daily News, Apple purposely postponed the release of its device so it can pack the new Broadwell processors from Intel. Thus, the release of the new laptop is most likely to be released in late 2014 or early 2015.

According to the ongoing rumors, MacBook Air Retina will pack a 12-inch display, which is a combination of 11-inch portability and 13-inch model's performance. Some of the key features of the upcoming MacBook Air are: 12-inch monitor with 2K screen resolution; 1.35kg; 128GB or 256GB SSD; 1.4GHz Intel Core i5; 4GB RAM; 2x USB 3.0; Mini DisplayPort / Thunderbolt 2.0; Memory card reader; 720p FaceTime camera.
