One of the most-anticipated games that fans have long been waiting for to come to the Wii U is its console edition of "The Legend of Zelda." With the long wait, the title has reportedly already achieved a status on par with other long-standing "in development" games such as "The Last Guardian" and "Half-Life 3." As such, numerous rumors have floated regarding the title's release.

One of the most recent rumors is that the Wii U edition of "The Legend of Zelda" might get pushed back to a later date. The quarterly financial update for Nintendo lists the title as having a "TBD" release. Although this is common for big-name games due to their substantial development, fans took note that "The Legend of Zelda" is the only one whose date still needs to be determined, as other titles on the list already have anticipated release dates pinned onto them. Also, since "The Legend of Zelda" for the Wii U was already delayed once (Nintendo originally pegged the release for this year), there are speculations that come 2016, Nintendo may again push back the title's launch due to some circumstances.

Meanwhile, there is also a rumor that "The Legend of Zelda" will instead be launched for Nintendo's upcoming NX system. Some observers have noted that since Nintendo already announced a new console, it will be a good marketing strategy to launch the new device together with a big-name game Nintendo title, of which the "Zelda" franchise is one. However, Nintendo of America's executive vice-president of sales and marketing Scott Moffitt already dispelled the rumors.

"We confirmed that a Zelda game, a new Zelda experience is in development for the Wii U and we have our team hard at work on that," Moffitt said during a talk with iDigitalTimes. "We want that to be the best Zelda experience. Fans have been waiting for and deserve a game when it's ready, when it's fully featured and when it can live up to what we would like to deliver."
