Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) will tackle an old case that has haunted her entire career in the upcoming episode of the NBC series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."

In "Depravity Standard," the promo released shows the lieutenant facing one of her most hated criminal once again. Child abductor Lewis Hoda (Tom Sizemore) is back on trial and this time, he is stating that Benson and her SVU operatives are framing him for a crime he did not commit. Hoda last appeared in season 14, when a boy was taken while in the care of his father. A similar case happened 13 years ago, but it was never solved.

Hoda was working as a building manager that time and the trail led to his doorsteps. Eventually, he confessed to abducting both boys. The remains of the other victim was found hidden underneath the concrete of a basement floor. The other boy was fortunately alive and Benson and her team were able to save him. Now that the day of Hoda's trial has arrived, they must try to prove his guilt, in the face of his accusation that he is being framed.

CarterMatt reports that Assistant District Attorney Rafael Barba (Raul Esparza) will try to ensure that this time, Hoda will stay behind bars until he dies. This will be no easy task, as he has to rely on decades-old evidence to convict him of the two crimes. A plea bargain is rejected and there is no other way but to revisit what transpired thirteen years ago. Barba will even be going against an old colleague, former FBI Special Agent criminal profiler Dr. George Huang (B.D. Wong), who is representing the defendant.

Will Barba be able to prove, once and for all, that Hoda is a ticking time bomb and releasing him is a terrible mistake? As for Benson, will she be able to keep her cool during the trial of the criminal who keeps on taunting her resolve?

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
