Kingdom Hearts 3 release date rumors: could be after April 2017; announcement due this winter

Kingdom Hearts 3 Square-Enix

Kingdom Hearts 3 may not have been included in the recently concluded E3 Conference but something made fans hopeful about the game in a very brief moment during the reveal of the gameplay trailer of Kingdom Hearts 2.8.

At the end of the trailer, the logo of Kingdom Hearts 3 was flashed along with a promise of "upcoming announcements this winter."

It can be recalled that Kingdom Hearts co director Tai Yasue earlier explained the development schedule for the game, PCA reported.

"We've been working full throttle on Kingdom Hearts III. It's moving along. We structured our team in a way that development of 2.5 doesn't impede Kingdom Hearts III. I'm actually every excited about Kingdom Hearts III.," he promised.

In another interview, Yasue gave even more information about the game.

"It's going to be a mix. Whenever we come up with worlds for Kingdom Hearts, we want to have them be varied. You don't want the same type of world, so we will have different categories. That will make it feel fresh, like you're having an adventure," he said.

In terms of characters, he promised that there were a lot of characters that they are considering to include since Disney came out with a lot of content in recent years. Fans of Elsa and Ana would be tickled pink to know that Yasue himself is partial to the characters from Frozen, considering how they would blend in the gameplay.

"This is not an announcement or anything, but personally I enjoyed watching Frozen. It was magical: the stories, the songs, the ice expressions," he said.

It remains to be seen when the official announcement will be made but according to a report by HNGN, it is unlikely for the game to be released anytime in 2016.

The report hinted at the possibility that it will be released after April 2017 after the cutoff for the fiscal year.
