Katy Perrys Christian mum to open up about disagreements with daughter in book

Mary Perry Hudson and her husband are both preachers and run their own evangelical ministry in California.

Mrs Hudson has reportedly approached literary agents in New York in the hopes of securing a publishing deal for her memoir in which she will open up about her views on her daughter’s career.

According to the New York Post, the book proposal states: “This memoir is her story, in her own words. Mary and Keith Hudson have been Christian evangelists long before the world ever heard of Katy Perry.

“Amid a torrent of negative reports from magazines and entertainment shows, Mary Hudson wants to tell ‘her story’ and dispel a lot of rumours.

“Katy’s success has impacted her ministry in both negative and positive ways.

“She loves her daughter very much and is very proud of her accomplishments, but disagrees with a lot of choices she makes in her career.”

Mrs Hudson has made no secret in the past of her feelings about her daughter’s smash hit, “I Kissed A Girl”. After the song’s release, she said she found its pro-homosexuality message “shameful and disgusting”.

Katy Perry sang in her church as a child and was formerly a Christian music artist under the name of Katy Hudson before turning to the secular music industry.

She has carved out a place in the international music scene with her raunchy songs and style is married to comedian Russell Brand.
