The Kansas City Chiefs are hoping for the best for their leading receiver, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, who suffered a high ankle sprain in their Wild Card Playoffs win over the Houston Texans last Saturday.

According to ESPN, Maclin injured the ankle in the third quarter and while being carted off the field was in tears.

Maclin finished the game only with four catches for 29 yards, but Kansas City was in full control when he left the game.

ESPN added in the report that Maclin is uncertain for Saturday's Divisional Playoffs matchup with the defending Super Bowl champions New England Patriots, and remains to be day-to-day.

In Maclin's first season with the Chiefs, after five with the Philadelphia Eagles, he has done an exceptional job having 87 receptions for 1,088 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 regular season games played.

If Kansas City loses the 27-year-old wide receiver, facing the Patriots just became a tougher task for them to finish in the Divisional Playoffs.

Possibly replacing Maclin is wide receiver Chris Conley, who replaced him during the Wild Card Playoffs win and also during the regular season when he missed a game due to injuries.

Conley played well versus the Texans and even caught a touchdown pass in a play designed for Maclin, ESPN reported.

In 16 games played during the regular season, Conley has 17 receptions for 199 yards and one touchdown.

However, the Chiefs have shown this season that they can bounce back and play well after key players go down with injuries and hoping that continues against New England this Saturday.

Kansas City, after missing the playoffs last season, is looking to score an upset over the Patriots and make it past the Divisional Playoffs.

The last time the Chiefs made it to the Divisional Playoffs was in the 2003 season and they were eliminated by the Indianapolis Colts.
