The sequel to the 2015 blockbuster "Jurassic World" will be working with a huge increase in its production budget as the blockbuster franchise earmarks $260 million for the yet untitled second film.

The news came straight from "Jurassic World 2" director J.A. Bayona when he was interviewed by Latin publication El Pais Seminal. According to Bayona, the movie will work with almost a 100 percent increase from the budget of the first movie, which was pegged at $150 million.

Bayona said that the follow-up movie will belong in the "champion league of cinema" and explained that he initially considered taking on the movie because of Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall.

It can be recalled that the first film — which was a reboot of Steven Spielberg's trilogy Jurassic Park — raked in some $1,670,000 globally with $652,270,625 owing to domestic ticket sales, according to Box Office Mojo.

Colin Trevorrow — director of "Jurassic World" — will hand over the directorial reigns to Bayona after agreeing to join the Star Wars franchise. However, the former will still be involved with developing the script for the sequel.

In a report by Yibada, Bayona shared Trevorrow's vision for the franchise when he started with the first movie.

"The Jurassic World is a trilogy that Colin Trevorrow has envisioned. We're writing the second chapter, and it's very interesting where he's leading the story," Bayona said.

For his part, Trevorrow teased that they want to take the action out of the park so it will be interesting to see what happens if more people could create their own dinosaurs.

"What if this went open source? It's almost like InGen is Mac, but what if PC gets their hands on it? What if there are 15 different entities around the world who can make a dinosaur?" he said in an earlier interview.

"Owen is going to be in it, Claire is in it and neither is going to be in the same place we left them in the first movie. And even though Claire is the one who evolves the most over the trilogy, it's her story that mirrors this changing world," Trevorrow further hinted in a more recent report.

Jurassic World 2 opens in theaters on June 22, 2018.
