Jeremy Lin news 2018: Point guard unlikely to get starting position this season despite an expected full recovery from knee injury

The Brooklyn Nets would have wanted to promote Jeremy Lin well into the next season, but it seems that the athlete's season-ending injury would prevent just that. The point guard could have been one of the starter choices for the Nets, but seeing as he is recently in recuperation, he may not make it to the position.

Lin got a knee injury or more specifically a ruptured patellar tendon just as when the current National Basketball Association (NBA) season was opening. He has been in recuperation in British Columbia ever since, and is expected to recover just in time to play again for the 2018–2019 season.

This is all well and good for the superstar, but it does force the Nets to make a decision regarding their starter positions. According to current projections, Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert may be the ones who will end up leading the team in the upcoming games. Both have shown excellent performance recently, and the absence of Lin and fellow guard D'Angelo Russell gives the team all the more reason to start with these two.

Of course, fans may think that Lin could start because his recovery is expected to be just in time as the season starts. But the Nets thinks that the newly-recovered athlete may have problems with his endurance, considering he has been off the court for such a long time. There is also the fact that Lin only played around 37 games in his first two seasons, which may not be enough to judge if he will be suitable as a starting player for the team or not.

Lin was recently seen congratulating the Burnaby South High School basketball team for winning the provincial basketball championship. After his former team's accomplishment broke through the news, the star athlete expressed his message of congratulations for the team's achievement through Instagram.

Lin is now 29 years old and maintains a point guard position for the Brooklyn Nets.
