Iron Man 4 movie release date, rumors: Game of Thrones actress hints at wanting to play Riri Williams, but Robert Downey Jr. is still up to continue role?

While playing the handmaiden and confidante to the Mother of Dragons is an awesome occupation, is Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel headed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to trade her robes for a much sturdier outfit – an iron suit perhaps?

The actress, in a recent appearance at the San Diego Comic Con's panel on Women Who Kick Ass panel, hinted that she would be very interested to don Iron Man's suit should Marvel decide to cast a female actor for the role.

In recent months, rumors are rife that Robert Downey Jr. will be replaced by a younger actor for the reboot of the Iron Man franchise similar to the strategy being employed for the Spider-man franchise. However, Marvel may choose to explore the Riri Williams storyline from the comic books where Iron Man, upon his death will be replaced by a young MIT genius who build her own version of the Iron Suit in her dorm room.

"I quite like the Iron Man films. There seems to be this issue of women in technology and science films and things like that, and I think the idea of playing some sort of science whiz that also kicks butt like Iron Man could be fun."

While it is still unconfirmed by Marvel, Iron Man 4 is almost surely a direction that the studio is willing to explore given that it is a billion dollar franchise in itself and Downey's performance as Tony Stark has been iconic.

And while fans keep speculating that age will effectively put the actor in the sidelines, he seems to believe the contrary as he recalled his preparation for the role and his efforts in getting fit to play the role.

"For some reason or another, I had been training really hard, just trying to get my body to a really great place, doing martial arts and all that. I was, like, 40-years old. I figured if I was ever going to try to look like I was in decent shape, there wasn't going to be a better time. What I learned about myself playing "Iron Man" is that if you're not on your team, why should anyone else be? Something like the first "Iron Man," that was considered out of the box for me. Way outside the box. But that's what we are here to do: change expectations of ourselves.

Iron Man 4 is possibly part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's fourth phase of films which will begin after 2019.
