The next iPhone, reportedly named the iPhone 6S, is rumored to be coming out in the fall, though any official information tied up to it remains under wraps.
The initial word out is that the iPhone 6S will have minimal changes. It will most likely carry the same design that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has. Rumors suggest, however, that the iPhone 6S may be slightly thicker because it will have a slightly bigger battery.
As far as the display is concerned, the iPhone 6S may come in two different screen sizes – 4.4-inches and 5.5-inches. Given that these rumored features are hardly something Apple fans will find astonishing, what else is there?
The latest rumors about the iPhone 6S also suggest that a lot of the enhancements could eventually be traced to one key component – a Qualcomm chip known as MDM9635M.
The report from 9to5Mac reveals that the new chip will provide a lot of improvements, particularly in the area of web browsing and battery life.
This is not actually the first time the MDM9635M chip has been heard of. Qualcomm introduced the chip in 2013 but since it came out only last year, it was unable to come out in time for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The chip is special because it features a refined wireless system that accounts for the much bragged about LTE speed. It can reportedly support up to 300 Mbps, or double the current speed of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus at 150 Mbps.
It is also reportedly power-efficient. LTE connectivity has been known to drain phone batteries fast, but the new chip could deliver improved performance and longer browsing time as well. The chip and the bigger battery makes one wonder how the device can be used, particularly for browsing or social media activities.
