iOS 8.3 and 8.4 jailbreak to finally be released?

Apple iOS 8.x Apple

It seems that open-code developers have finally broken the latest Apple operating system and will be releasing an iOS jailbreak soon.

According to reports, the Pangu jailbreak team has already demonstrated a working jailbroken iOS 8.3 at a MOSEC event, a mobile security conference sponsored by the team. According to tech site iDigitalTimes, a blog on Tools4Hack and a subsequent Weibo post by Pangu team member Daniel_4k seem to corroborate the report.

The blog post on Tools4Hack is in Japanese, but freely translated, it seems to indicate that the jailbreak for iOS 8.3 will be coming soon, and as for the iOS 8.4, the jailbreak will depend on developments at Apple. This might mean that jailbreaking teams are waiting for the tech giant to release iOS 8.4 before trying to attempt to jailbreak it.

Speculations say that the upcoming Apple Worldwide Developers Conference will see the company rolling out iOS 8.4 and introducing the beta version of iOS 9. Once Apple seeds iOS 8.4, different teams will then work on the jailbreak.

This might mean that Apple's measures against jailbreaking its platform is bearing fruit. Early this year, Apple addressed the issue by security updates to its own iOS versions with specific fixes against jailbreaking. It was reported that developers are having a hard time cracking both iOS 8.3 and 8.4 because of the perennial security updates that Apple launched, hence the wait by the developers for the beta version of iOS 9. Having the upcoming platform in the spotlight might mean Apple will be stopping the updates to prior iOS versions, paving the way for different jailbreaking teams.

There are no details yet on when fans can expect a jailbreak for the two current iOS versions, but if Apple will indeed launch the beta version of iOS 9 in its upcoming annual WWDC event, scheduled from June 8 to 12, then it is to be expected that the jailbreak for iOS 8.3 and 8.4 will arrive before the year ends.
