New iMac specs rumors: Apple working on 21.5-inch 4K iMac with Retina display?

 Apple

Rumor has it that Apple will introduce a new powerful iMac model. The speculation was set off when a code buried inside the beta version of the tech giant's OS X El Capitan came to light. If this discovery is any indication, then the Cupertino-based company will release a 21.5-inch 4K iMac Retina.

The metadata for the said operating system hinted at an iMac screen with a native resolution of 4096 x 2304 pixels. It is believed that this display will be for a new iteration of the 21.5-inch iMac, which reportedly needs upgrading. The current model has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The 27-inch Apple desktop computer already came out with a 5K Retina display back in October last year but the 21.5-inch model still makes use of a regular LED display. Media outlets are convinced that Apple is looking to update the smaller desktop computer.

According to IGN, Apple doesn't have any desktop computers with 4K resolution. If the rumor proves accurate, then it looks like the tech firm will be releasing an iMac Retina with said resolution. This machine, Tech Times says, should be a tremendous hit.

While the 27-inch iMac had stellar specs and undeniable appeal, which translates to massive sales, its price tag still had many consumers looking for other options. The premium iMac was priced $2,499 at launch; and although Apple is now selling it for $1,999, this pricing is still too steep for many. With the alleged 21.5-inch 4K iMac Retina, interested buyers will get to enjoy a more powerful device at a relatively more affordable price. The new iMac should cost less than the hulking 5K iMac Retina.

While Apple has yet to corroborate on the alleged existence of the 21.5-inch 4K iMac Retina, there are already speculations that new desktop computer will be unveiled by October or November.
