Huawei is planning to join the wearable technology bandwagon by releasing an Android Wear watch in the coming days.
In an interview with WIRED.co.uk, the Chinese tech giant confirmed that they will be releasing several wearable products throughout the year, including a smartwatch that will use Android Wear by Google. However, Huawei plans to beat the competition by coming up with innovative products that are not yet featured by other brands.
Shao Yang, Huawei's devices CMO said, "One thing that is very important for us is to be different. For the wearables we are not trying to bring similar solutions."
He also verified that the company's development strategy for their flagship devices that are likely to earn the interest of consumers could be used for the wearable and tablet devices as well. As part of their strategy, Huawei will be launching three new wearable products as well as a tablet during their scheduled press event at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona.
A slide showing the company's Android Wear smartwatch features a black, round face device that almost resembles the LG G Watch R was recently unveiled. However, the company's marketing communications director Jerry Huang divulged to Pocket-lint that their version of Android Wear smartwatch will be very different compared to the LG G Watch R or any other wearable devices in the market today, since it will have a more fashionable appearance.
According to Huang, the Chinese tech giant carefully chose the most ideal design for their new wearable product, and they are developing a smartwatch that will feature functions that can be integrated into the everyday life of its users, whether they have advanced technology requirements or not.
Pocket-lint also mentioned that the succeeding product after their TalkBand B1 will also have similar talk and track functions, but will have more color options to choose from. It may also have the capacity to hold an image.
Huawei's press conference during this year's MWC event is scheduled on March 1.
