Huawei Nexus 6 2015 release date and specs rumors: New leaks show metal body, camera bump at the back

Google's current Nexus 6

Aside from its upcoming operating system, Android M, Google is also busy updating its product lineup that will use the new platform, particularly its wide range of Nexus devices. According to rumors, Google is targeting two versions of a Nexus smartphone reboot before the year ends – a new-gen Nexus 5 from LG, and another, bigger version from Huawei dubbed as the new Nexus 6.

These past few weeks saw leaked images and information about LG's latest iteration of the Nexus smartphone. However, details surrounding Huawei's device have been scarce. This could change now as information and leaks surrounding Huawei's version of a Nexus smartphone have started making their rounds online.

The latest speculations are accompanied by leaked images, purporting the new Nexus 6 by Huawei to have an all-metal chassis. In the leaked photos posted by Google+ user Tiesen Fu, the device in question closely matches the description of earlier leaks about the Huawei device.

It has been alleged that the new Nexus 6 will feature a slightly different variation in its form factor, having a bump near the top of the back panel, owing to a protrusion from the smartphone's camera assembly. The form of the phone's back panel also closely matches the leaked TPU cases that made it online last month. Tech observers have guessed that in this setup, the camera itself has been placed separately from the phone's body, located at the top of the device together with what appears to be a dual-flash and laser autofocus sensor.

The leaked images, however, did not list the specs of the device. Rumors of Huawei's Nexus 6 say that the smartphone will be launched as a phablet, having either a 5.7- or a 6.0-inch Quad HD resolution with 2K video display, an overhauled Snapdragon 810 chipset, and at least 3 GB of RAM.
