HTC has finally revealed a refreshed HTC One M9+ handset and its only striking improvement seems to be the larger display and bumped up main camera.
Rumors on the coming of an improved version did appear here last month and now the rebranded HTC One M9+ has been made official. The new device will be officially known as the HTC One M9+ Aurora Edition which carries almost the same specs as the original device which debuted earlier this year.
The only key improvement that could probably capture the fancy of people who may want to take a second look at the refreshed edition is its main camera which was bumped up from 20 megapixels to 21 megapixels.
The bump in megapixel count will include an anti-shake feature which should come in handy for people with shaky hands once pictures or videos are to be shot. An added autofocus laser (Sony IMX230) is included to help guide folks in taking better focused objects.
Other than that, the refreshed HTC One M9+ pretty much carries the same specs as the previous model that came out.
For those who are unaware, the original specs of the HTC One M9+ include a 5.2-inch 1440p IPS LCD display, a MediaTek MT6795 2.2 GHz Helio X10 processor, 3 GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 32 GB internal storage with microSD expansion options, a front-facing 4-megapixel camera and a 2,840 mAh battery.
There is no clear reason why HTC One M9+ decided to release a closely similar device, although it may have something to do with the fact that HTC is trying to make up for a dismal showing of the HTC One M9.
The HTC One M9+ is expected to hit the Taiwan market by Oct. 5 at the earliest and will reportedly be priced starting at $630. For now, there is no word on whether the refreshed HTC One M9+ will be out in the international scene.
