Disney is seeking to tap into the phenomenon that was High School Musical once more, but fans who are hoping for the return of the original cast should not hold their breath for a "Troyella" (Troy/Gabriella) reunion.

According to the Christian Times, Disney may opt to follow a whole new set of students who can represent a whole new generation of fans.

The new movie is expected to focus on Sharpay Evans' (Ashley Tisdale) cousin Campbell, who like Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) is a soccer star and a theater actor. Aside from Campbell, four other lead characters will be cast to headline the film, in keeping with the tradition of the original movies.

"High School Musical is part of Disney Channel's DNA. It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we're excited to announce 'the start of something new' as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the High School Musical franchise," Disney Channel President Gary Marsh said in an interview with E! Online.

Whereas before, the East High Wildcats were the main focus of the story, this time around, the focus will branch out to their rivals, the West High Knights as well. This is expected to expand the story and introduce more new cast members to relate with a new generation of viewers, Game and Guide reported.

While the announcement came from Disney, there are still loyal fans holding out hope that Efron and Vanessa Hudgens (Gabriella) will return to the franchise even for a guest role or a cameo.

However, there are those who have debunked the rumor on its early stages as they speculate that it will be hard for the former lovebirds to work together since they did not end their real life relationship on an amicable note.
