"Heroes Reborn" will be here soon, packing new action, drama and a bit of nostalgia. Even though the original series "Heroes" ended five years ago, loyal fans have hoped for the superhumans' return and that is now close to happening.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, executive producer and series creator Tom Kring said that the emergence of the spin-off is the definition of perfect timing.

"There was never a time they stopped talking about it from the time it ended," he said.

"Heroes Reborn" is set in a world that is now aware of the existence of humans with superpowers and extraordinary gifts referred to in the series as Evos or Evolved humans. In the set of trailers for the upcoming miniseries, these remarkable people try to conceal their abilities because of a new threat.

The show will open with a deadly terrorist attack, which humans blame on the Evos. Humans believe that the losses and the damage caused by the assault are for the Evos to answer for. And so the super-powered beings are chased and are forced to hole up.

While Hayden Panettiere and Peter Petrelli who played Claire Bennet and Milo Ventimiglia in the original series won't reprise their roles, these characters will be alluded to in "Heroes Reborn," making the upcoming series a bigger treat to fans of the original series. Add to that the returning cast members, namely Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura, Jack Coleman as HRG aka Noah Bennet and Greg Grunberg as Matt Parkman.

The new faces fans will see include Robbie Kay as Tommy Clark, Danika Yarosh as Malina, Judith Shekoni as Joanne Collins, Ryan Guzman as Carlos Gutierrez, Henry Zebrowski as Quentin Frady, Gatlin Green as Emily Duval, Rya Kihlstedt as Erica Kravid, Kiki Sukezane as Miko Otomo and Zachary Levi as Luke Collins.

"Heroes Reborn" premieres Sept. 24 with "Awakening."
