Game developer ArenaNet finally confirmed that they will release the first full expansion pack for the highly popular online role-playing game "Guild Wars 2." The announcement was made during the "Guild Wars 2: Beyond the Point of No Return" panel held at the PAX South event in San Antonio, Texas.
Rumors about the expansion pack made the rounds last week, after the game developer unveiled the finale of the "Living World Season 2" updates for the game. The last episode concluded with a teaser that somehow instructed fans to wait for further announcement during the PAX South 2015.
Although the expansion pack titled "Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thrones" has been confirmed, the game developer did not divulge any information about its release date. At any rate, ArenaNet managed to inform the players about the scheduled playable demo for the expansion to be held during the PAX East convention in Boston on Friday, March 6. Sometime after the demo, beta testing will start.
"Of course, the question on everybody's mind is when it's going to get released," game director Colin Johanson said during an interview with Polygon. "It's going to get released when beta testing says it's ready to get released. We want to involve our players in that. It'll be a process of beta testing the game and making sure that this fundamental groundwork that we're laying is the groundwork that we want to build on top of growing forward."
The game director also said that they will announce the game's unveiling once the beta testers report that the game is ready for public release.
"Guild Wars 2" is one of the hottest massively multiplayer online role-playing games today. It revolves around the return of a disbanded group called Destiny's Edge that aims to fight the ruthless Elder Dragons in the fictional world of Tyria.
