'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' latest news: Tyler Bates back to handle musical score

 Marvel Studios

One of the aspects that makes "Guardians of the Galaxy" more memorable is the music that accompanies the crucial moments and scenes in the film. Fans will be happy to know that the man behind the art, Tyler Bates, will be back to score the music in the sequel.

Music is a big deal in the movie and this is heavily represented by main protagonist Peter's love for music. In the first film, the hero doesn't go wrong with what he puts into his very aptly titled Awesome Mix tape, which, behind the scenes, were cherry-picked by director James Gunn.

On top of that, the movie has more impact, thanks to Bates. He chose the right music to play when an all-out brawl ensues to elicit excitement from viewers, and dials down to the right melody to let fans know that action has ended and tear-jerking drama has commenced.

Bates is successful and respected in his field, having scored music for more than 60 films with the likes of "Sucker Punch," "Conan the Barbarian," "300," and "Halloween." He is also the man responsible for the stellar music in "Watchmen," and even went on to compose music for various television series.

As for the next volume of Peter's Awesome Mix tape, Gunn revealed that he himself will again be handpicking the songs. He has also confirmed that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will be more emotional as it dives into Peter's relationship with his father, whose identity has yet to be revealed.

In other related news, "Guardians of the Galaxy" recently snagged the award for the Best Dramatic Presentation in the Long Form category in the recently concluded 2015 Hugo Awards.

Gunn tweeted the news, saying, "Oh my Gosh, this is so amazing."

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will come out on May 5, 2017.
