Fans of game classics such as the niche JRPGs, or Japanese role-playing games, are in for a treat, as one of the classic hits on the Dreamcast console will be making its way on a current-gen platform. The game, which should be familiar to those who were already gamers in the early 2000s, is a remastered version for "Grandia II", coming to the Steam Store.

To keep their fan base happy and as a result of what they said was "an enthusiastic feedback support," publisher GungHo Online Entertainment America will be bringing back a remastered version of the classic role-playing game "Grandia II."

"With the rise of digital downloads, it is especially important that classic games continue to remain available to play in some form," said president of GungHo America Jun Iwasaki in a statement to Gamespot. "'Grandia II' was chosen for a PC re-release because it represents both a hallmark of the 'Grandia' series and an example of how great JRPGs can be."

"Grandia II" is the second installment in the series and itfollows the story of Ryudo. Ryudo is a mercenary, and in one of his missions, he encounters and escorts Elena, a songstress possessed by Millenia, a part of the dark god Valmar. The quests and missions take Ryudo and his party across the "Grandia" areas in search of a legendary sword that can destroy the dark souls of Valmar.

"Grandia II" was first released on the Dreamcast in 2000, with follow-up launches on the PlayStation 2 and PC in 2002.

GungHo is no stranger to importing Japanese titles to be released globally. They are the studio and publisher behind "Puzzle and Dragons," "Ragnarok Odyssey," and "Dokuro" titles for the PlayStation Vita.

The company has just started on the development for "Grandia II," and so no details yet on the time frame for the release is available.
