GoPro Hero LCD to be released: What to expect

For those who would like to get an action camera but are wary of the cost of most cams with medium- to high-end specifications, action camera company GoPro is now offering an entry-level solution.

GoPro has announced the availability of its new Hero+ LCD, a new action camera from its Hero line-up meant to entice first-time action cam users or those wishing to check out and test the waters for GoPro devices first.

Notable among the new camera's features is its entry-level price, as GoPro is planning to release the Hero+ LCD for only $299. This price range is perfect for those who would be getting an action camera for the first time, or those who are just looking for basic functions for a cam.

Indeed, the new Hero+ LCD is not a next-gen action camera, nor a successor to the current Hero 4. However, the entry-level shooter is still packed with features that fans would already be familiar with. An upgrade over the bare-bones first-gen Hero released last year, the new Hero+ is now equipped with an LCD screen so that users could easily access the interface or instantly check out their shots.

However, since the Hero+ is just a basic camera, it lacks the 4k recording capabilities of higher-end cams in the GoPro family. The action camera instead features a basic 1080p video recording feature, which is much better than other cameras within the same price range. Even if the resolution is below-par when compared to other Hero cams, it still captures in broadcast quality and is perfect for social media uploads such as Facebook and YouTube.

The new Hero+ LCD includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support. With these connectivity features, users can easily connect with other devices for data transfer. GoPro also made sure that battery life would be optimal, and the Hero+ LCD can last two hours of continuous recording on a single charge.

GoPro will be releasing the Hero+ LCD on June 7.
