Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P specs, release date: Google new handsets

Google is reportedly making a reboot of the Nexus 5 (2013) and the Nexus 6 (2014) with LG and Huawei, respectively. But apart from the upgrades on these devices, they will also be getting cool new names to set them apart from the originals. The software giant apparently wants to have them referred to as the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P.

This is according to a "reliable" source of Droid Life, who also confirmed that Bullhead and Angler really were the code names given to the upcoming handsets. While it has already been speculated in the past weeks that the Nexus 5 will be getting an "X" on its name, this is the first time information about the moniker of the Nexus 6 iteration was revealed.

It is unclear why Google opted to name the handsets Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, but it won't be long before users find out. The tech company already announced an event happening on Sept. 29. It is expected the devices will be fully unveiled there as the first Nexus offerings to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the newest OS for Android phones.

The Nexus 5X is reportedly getting a 5.2-inch display with 1080p resolution, along with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 for its processor and 2 GB for RAM. The Nexus 6P is touted to get a much bigger, 5.7-inch screen with sharper Quad HD quality. Being the larger of the two, it will house the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 unit and 3 GB RAM.

The differences also extend to the cameras. The LG-made Nexus is expected to feature a 12.3-MP rear-facing camera and a 5-MP front-facing shooter. Meanwhile, on the back of the Nexus 6P will reportedly be a 12-MP snapper capable of shooting 4K videos and an 8-MP shooter on the front.

The handsets were profusely leaked in the past with a flurry of press renders, live images and benchmark tests pouring in here and there.
