'Good Wife' season 7 spoilers: Peter Florrick runs for president in new episodes

In an attempt to reflect and merge real-life events with fiction, "The Good Wife" season 7 will see Peter Florrick competing for the presidential post against Hillary Clinton. Executive producer Robert King, however, reveals this feat poses its own challenges.

"The difficult thing for us is we started writing these scripts in June, so you're always kind of guessing where things are going," the EP told TV Line. "And we're stunned in politics how things change overnight. We're not sure if Biden will enter the race at this point. We have the ability to ADR some lines in if that's necessary, but we're kind of playing the betting game at this point," he continued.

King added that the said storyline for season 7 will be paralleled to the Iowa caucus so as to be true to their plans of seeing reality happen within the show. Although he is very keen on doing that, King also emphasized that he still has the means to stray from reality when needed.

While Peter gets himself busy with campaigning to become the head of state in the upcoming season, Alicia rebuilds her career. She prepares for herself a new office, recruits new teammates, sports a brand new hairdo, and she will probably even find a new man as she begins a new chapter in her life.

Interestingly, there are rumors that the new season will bring fans back inside the machinations of the former state attorney's mind as what it did with last season's episode, "Mind's Eye." This was allegedly necessitated by the supposed return of Josh Charles' character, Will Gardner, who happens to be Alicia's former love who's already deceased.

"I would love to return. I don't know. I was supposed to do one last year, and then the schedule didn't work out with Wet Hot [American Summer: First Day of Camp production]. That's my family over there. But I don't know about this season. Probably not because I'm busy this year but it's possible," the actor told E! Online

If he does come back, media outlets believe it will be through a flashback or through Alicia's thoughts.

"The Good Wife" season 7 airs Oct. 4.
