Golden State Warriors trade news 2015: Harrison Barnes contract talks shelved

With salaries rising in the National Basketball Association (NBA), Harrison Barnes is undoubtedly one who is worthy of having a salary well in the $20 million range.

Unlike other forwards who have demanded for a max contract, Barnes has proven he deserves one as shown from his performance last season that was capped by being a member of the Golden State Warriors championship team.

Despite failing to come to an agreement, it isn't really the end for Barnes and the Warriors. It is seen as a minor stumbling block with the Warriors still in the running. With Barnes expected to be dangled with lucrative offers, Golden State can still match anything placed on the table.

Barnes turned down a $64 million offer in September and also had a change in agents. Since that, both sides failed to strike any milestone, although it appears that both parties were not that far off.

It seems that Barnes just wanted to focus more on the season at hand first and deal with his contract second. And as far as the four-year NBA vet is concerned, the contract situation is nothing to worry about.

From the looks of it, it is a simple issue of the numbers game. Barnes doesn't seem to have any qualms playing for the Golden State, more so that he just became an NBA champion.

For now, there is no word on which team that could be interested in Barnes, although teams are bound to look into that once the offseason nears. With Barnes perhaps getting what any NBA player wants the most (an NBA ring), the pitches hurled his way will be interesting.

Right now, Barnes seem content with where he is and is not looking for more. Could he target individual awards next? If so, it is certainly not showing.
