Golden State Warriors news 2015: Head coach Steve Kerr still sidelined [VIDEO]

The Golden State Warriors plan to try and make it back-to-back and it all starts this coming Wednesday, Oct. 28, when the Warriors host the New Orleans Pelicans.

Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are all good to go as they try to shut up their detractors, some of which still believe that Golden State got a good measure of luck to snag the 2014–15 National Basketball Association (NBA) title.

However, the Warriors will start their campaign on a slightly down note with head coach Steve Kerr watching from the sidelines. Apparently, Kerr is not yet ready to take over the head coaching chores due to complications brought about by his recent back surgeries which may require more rest.

Until Kerr is deemed fit to return, head coaching duties will be left to interim coach Luke Walton, who didn't really do a bad job in the preseason.

Kerr's absence doesn't seem to be limited to the season opener. He is likely out as well for the Warriors' next game against the Houston Rockets. It remains to be seen if Kerr will be up and about by the third game where the Warriors will face the Pelicans once again.

Right now, Kerr is reportedly having severe headaches that make him unfit to call the shots. There is no definite date given yet on when he will be back calling the shots.

The Warriors are in a pretty tough predicament this season, finding themselves alongside souped up squads led no less by the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Aside from the two teams that gained key acquisitions in the summer, there is also the Oklahoma City Thunder, Memphis Grizzlies, and the Houston Rockets to contend with. That Oct. 30 game against the Houston Rockets should be interesting, a battle which will see two players who vied for the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) last season.

The question in most people's minds right now is on whether the Warriors will continue their small-ball brand of basketball or has Kerr and Walton have something new in store this year.
