Glenn Beck blasts 'Family Guy' makers for episode with Jesus trying to lose his virginity

The hit adult cartoon 'Family Guy' has left many people offended once again. Foremost among them is the popular radio host Glenn Beck.

Sunday's episode of the show, which has a reputation for offensive comedy, was entitled 'The 2,000-Year-Old Virgin.' It infuriated many Christians for showing Jesus trying to lose his virginity by sleeping with someone's wife.

The episode synopsis explains: "After running into Jesus at the Quahog Mall, Peter is stunned to discover that the Son of God is still a virgin. So, he enlists Quagmire and Cleveland to help him throw Jesus the best birthday ever by finding a way to help him become a man."

Created by Seth McFarlane, who is a staunch atheist, 'Family Guy' frequently pokes fun at religion. While it angers many viewers, the Fox cartoon series also enjoys the admiration of those who are entertained by its irreverence.

On The Blaze radio show, Beck spoke out against those who find the cartoon brave for pushing boundaries.

"Let me explain something about bravery. It is not brave to do the things that the elite and the powerful agree with," Beck said.

The conservative Mormon media personality claimed that Jesus is a sacred historical figure who should not be mocked.

"Can you tell me one man that has changed the world for the better, made people more peaceful, more decent, more honourable than Jesus?" Beck asked. "But every great act, every great, truly great freeing act was inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ. Why would we take down just that man? Why would we make him into a joke?"

Beck added, "Why not just put [Jesus] up on the pillar again? Why not just whip him and beat him? Why not just publicly humiliate him, why not just tear his clothing from him, spit on him, and when he asks for water, we give him vinegar?"

His co-host, Stu Burguiere, said, "I think you could argue this is worse."

"Because we know now," Beck replied. "Father forgive them, they know not what they do. We do. We do."
