After the success of "Game of Thrones," bestselling author/ screenwriter George R.R. Martin is reportedly working on another HBO series called "Captain Cosmos."
Entertainment Weekly broke the news about the plans for the new original series for the cable network, saying that Martin is involved in the early stages of development of the new series that aims to take viewers back in time.
The premise of the series reads: "At the dawn of the age of TV in 1949, a visionary young writer creates a science fiction series that tells stories no one else will dare to tell."
The pilot episode of the series is being penned by "Z Nation" scriptwriter Michael Cassutt, who had worked with Martin in various projects like "The Twilight Zone" and "Beauty and the Beast."
However, not all fans of Martin's work are happy to learn that he will be working on a new big task soon. Readers of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series are concerned that Martin taking another job might further delay the release of "The Winds of Winter," the sixth novel from the epic saga. He is expected to finish the sixth book soon, after announcing that he will not write a script for the upcoming seasons of "Game of Thrones." He also lessened the number of public appearances and interviews in order to concentrate on writing.
Allegedly, Martin is on board the new "Captain Cosmos" project to help with its development stage, but it does not mean that he will be writing for any of its episodes, and he will not spend a lot of time on it to focus more on his other important task. The Hollywood Reporter claimed that the series will not be a "big time commitment" for the author.
Information about the new "Captain Cosmos" TV series is still scarce, but HBO is expected to reveal more details about it soon.
