Although the rumors about an "Ultimate Edition" for the "Gears of War" franchise to be released this year was already confirmed, fans still did not know how the rollout would be scheduled. Now, it has been confirmed that Xbox One players will get to enjoy the title a little early.

"Gears of War: Ultimate Edition" will come out on Aug. 25 for the Xbox One, and it seems that it will be a timed exclusive. In a twitter reply to a fan asking about the PC rollout, Xbox chief Phil Spencer has confirmed that the PC version of the title will come much later, and will not roll out together with the Microsoft console version.

Based on Spencer's vague response, "Gears on Win10 is later than Xbox One version," it was not specified for how long the "Ultimate Edition" will last as an Xbox One exclusive, but there are speculations that it would be months before PC players will get a chance to play the title.

"Gears of War: Ultimate Edition" is a remastered version of the classic original title seen on the Xbox 360 in 2006. Aside from enhanced HD graphics, the title will also introduce fresh, new content such as five additional levels and the chance to play in the beta version of the upcoming sequel.

The franchise is already on its fourth installment, and "Gears of War 4" was first revealed by developer The Coalition's presentation at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. Although details are scant at this moment, observers are guessing that the fourth installment will not be released for at least two years. This seems to be the case, as The Coalition has announced that further developments for the title will entail a beta phase, which, according to Gamespot, will be happening in spring of next year.
