Crackdown 3, Dark Souls 3, Mirror's Edge: Catalyst are the top 3 trailers revealed at Gamescom 2015

This year's Gamescom event was jam-packed with dazzling gameplay footages and trailers for a number of highly anticipated games. The rundown for the top trailer videos at the convention is of mixed gameplay footages, backstory reveals, and upcoming genre title unveilings.

First revealed at another event, the earlier Electronic Entertainment Expo convention last June, "Crackdown 3" showscased 17 minutes of explosive, first-look trailer complete with a rundown of behind-the-scenes multiplayer demo from creative director David Jones and Reagent Games. One of the key features of the upcoming urban mayhem title is that it will showcase the full technical prowess of the Xbox One, with the developers promising fluid graphics and gameplay, plus a 100 percent destructible environment only possible with the console's cloud computing capabilities and under-the-hood horsepower.

When developer From Software announced a third installment for the "Dark Souls" franchise back at this year's E3, many fans thought that it will most likely be patterned after another company success, "Bloodborne." However, the Gamescom trailer revealed that "Dark Souls 3" will be different.

According to series creator and From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki, "Something similar will be added to spells in the game, and those definitely provide something new to 'Dark Souls 3'. Those will maintain the basics, but bring something new to 'Dark Souls 3', that will definitely solidly polish the 'Dark Souls' franchise, while remaining a 'Dark Souls' game."

The trailer footage for the upcoming installment is much more action-packed than the one shown at the E3 reveal. Originally published in 2008, "Catalyst" is more of a reboot than a sequel, taking players into an open city through Faith, the series' protagonist. Although the main premise is that Faith doubles as a courier, there is also a combat system in the game sans weapons. The unique combat style allows Faith to engage and knock off enemies using physical attacks.
